Frequently Asked Question
The answer is both/either. It all depends on your end result and if the built-in elevator interface control from the Intercom system can engage the elevator (what ever control system is in place).
If you want to use the built-in elevator control from the intercom system, then, you are likely to use the RS-485 connector to tie to your elevator system (if allowed) on the elevator's end.
You may just as well use your existing access control.
Here, in both cases, we do not really provide support on third party systems but for installations that have in the past used this feature, our intercom system was tied to the elevator's system via the RS-845.
Attached is a PDF document showing in most typical installations how using the RS-485 connection ties the intercom to most elevator's system. Here, I am using a Weigand access control as most popular.
