Frequently Asked Question
Here I'll explain what to test for with your chime to see if the problem is with
- the physical doorbell,
- the chime, or
- the master unit.
On the chime itself, touch one end of a paperclip or small wire to "Com" and the other end to one of the "Notes".
If the chime goes off throughout your system, stops ringing, and does not produce the Error 9 on the master display, the board is working and the next thing to check for are your contact points on your door station. Make sure they are plugged into the button contacts directly, and not the screws that secure the "rain-cover" over the buttons.
You may also test the wires that lead to the BUTTON on the door station by crossing them. This should produce the chime tone through the whole system, confirming the wires lead back to the right place.
M&S doorbells are universal, so if you confirm that the doorbell is the problem, you could order a new one from our website, becintegrated.com.
