[BE] series cat5 / cat6 - [No audio] & [No Video][BE-NA] - Troubleshooting?
Last Updated 5 years ago

Both audio & video:
The root of the problem could be coming from:

  1. Door station [5% chance the camera and audio have been affected by corrosion or other external factor]
  2. Layer Adapter [95% chance this is the root of the problem as this is where all cat5 cables meet to go the the monitors from the door station]
  3. The cat5 cables...

First task to complete:

  1. If from the Layer Adapter, can we slide off the top cover on the left-end side to access the programming button [a black button and video adjuster knob].
  2. the video adjuster knob is a mustard/yellow/orange colored round piece that looks like a device one needs to use a star screw driver to turn.
  3. by adjusting the turn clock-wise to increase output or counter-clock-wise to decrease output, one can adjust the video feeds accordingly so as to switch from a blue screen to a screen that can produce images from the door camera.

If the above produced results, then we will go to the next step which is to access the door station and essentially perform the same task this time with the volume adjuster.

If the previous task failed to produce images from the camera, then, we will have to test our connections with a patch cat5 cable from the door station to the layer adapter, then from the layer adapter port to the monitor. If the result is successful, then we need to change the cat5 cables. If this test failed, then the issue isn't from the cat5 cable(s).

Door Station Volume:
- from the door station [the back of it, once the Allan screws are removed], one can locate the same mustard color knob to adjust the volume. I would turn it clock-wise but not to the end, preferably, mid-way and test out the monitor with a call from the door station.

If there is no results produced by this adjustment, I would adjust as well the volume from the monitor as your model may have a volume adjuster knob at the back of the monitor. In absence of knowing your model, I am limited in the specifics for where to identify it.

If all, this did not help, I lean on to replace your Layer Adapter as that would be the culprit causing this audio/video failure.

In the meantime, I recommend to test out the [continuity] of your network cables in case we have a short somewhere. If we do, there are ways to work around such finding.

Door Switcher:

Check your pin settings:

  • Pin 1 OFF
  • Pin 2 OFF

The above pin out should allow the display of the video feeds.
