It's best to format the sd card from a computer before adding it to the device. For the most part, true formatting capabilities are not enabled on these devices although it should be.
I suggest to format your sd card before adding it to your device.
there is a write protect switch on the side of the sd card. It a very small latch that gets switch up/down to prevent unintentional writing on the drive to maintain the data.
